House of the Virgin Mary
Our first stop is the House of the Virgin Mary, one of the most important Christian pilgrimage sites in Turkey. According to Christian tradition, the Virgin Mary came to Ephesus with Saint John the Evangelist and spent the final years of her life here.
Before His crucifixion, Jesus entrusted the care of His mother to His beloved disciple, Saint John. For this reason, many historians and theologians believe that Mary accompanied John to Ephesus.
The religious significance of this sacred site was officially recognized by the Catholic Church. In 1967, Pope Paul VI visited the House of the Virgin Mary and confirmed its importance as a pilgrimage destination for Christians from around the world.
Visitors can explore the small chapel, light candles, and enjoy the peaceful and spiritual atmosphere surrounded by beautiful natural scenery.
